This adapter has the added advantage that you can use the side thumb screw to depress the pin in the middle of the adapter. This pin adjustment feature makes the Sodastream cylinder adapter significantly easier to use.

Regular Sodastream adapters require a hex key to adjust the pin height, and depending on how worn out your seal is, you may need to adjust this pin periodically. Additionally, conventional cheaper Sodastream adapters tend to leak gas every time you connect them to your regulator or the adapter itself. This is also inconvenient. This new Sodastream adapter has a significantly better design with a handy thumb screw on the side of the unit, allowing you to eliminate cumbersome adjustments and giving you the ability to turn the gas flow on and off.
