Carbonation kit 8L, for beginners
The carbonation kit is designed for beginners who want to conveniently and easily carbonate their home-brewed beer, cider, or other beverages. The kit includes all the necessary components to start carbonating right after receiving it. Well suited for carbonating small batches (up to 8L).
Kit contents:
- Oxbar 8L pressure vessel – a plastic pressure vessel that also serves as a serving container. The vessel holds up to 8 litres of liquid and withstands the pressure required for carbonation.
- CO2 cartridges 16g threaded (10 pcs) – single-use carbon dioxide cartridges that provide the gas needed for carbonation. Approximately 3 cartridges are required to carbonate one 8-litre batch.
- CO2 regulator for 16g mini cartridge (1/8" thread) – a compact regulator that allows you to connect a CO2 cartridge to the pressure vessel. Compatible with standard 16g threaded CO2 cartridges.
- Beer tap kit Duo-Bronco EVABarrier – a quality tap system for conveniently serving beverages directly from the pressure vessel. The EVABarrier tubing ensures a clean taste, as the material does not impart off-flavours to the drink.
- Oxbar pressure vessel quick connect kit with pressure relief valve – a quick connect kit for the pressure vessel lid, which includes both gas and liquid connectors as well as a pressure relief valve for safety. The pressure relief valve automatically releases excess pressure, preventing over-pressurisation of the vessel.
- Quick connect CO2 for pressure vessel (white, Ball-lock, 5/16" thread) – a gas-side Ball-lock quick connect that links the CO2 regulator to the gas inlet of the pressure vessel. The white colour code indicates the gas line.
How carbonation works:
Carbonation takes place with the help of a carbonation stone located inside the pressure vessel. The carbonation stone is a porous metal stone that breaks CO2 gas into very fine bubbles, which are absorbed evenly into the liquid. This ensures uniform and fine carbonation that resembles the quality of commercial beverages.
How to use:
Pour the beverage to be carbonated (beer, cider, lemonade, etc.) into the pressure vessel. Close the lid securely and make sure all seals are in place. Connect the CO2 regulator to a mini cartridge and attach it to the gas inlet of the pressure vessel via the quick connect. Open the CO2 valve and let the gas into the vessel. Gently shake the vessel to speed up gas absorption into the liquid. Let the beverage rest in a cool place for at least 12–24 hours so that the CO2 can fully dissolve. The colder the beverage, the better the CO2 dissolves. To serve, connect the beer tap kit and pour the carbonated beverage straight into a glass.
Recommendations for beginners:
Start with lower pressure (approximately 1–1.5 bar) and increase if necessary. If the pressure is too high, gas is automatically released through the pressure relief valve. Colder beverages (4–6 °C) absorb CO2 better. After carbonation, keep the vessel in a cool place to retain the gas in the beverage. One pack of 10 CO2 cartridges included in the kit allows you to carbonate approximately 3 batches of beverage.
