Usage: The Bishop NEIPA is a modern beer kit inspired by New England IPA style, where tropical fruit and hop aromas meet in perfect balance. The hop composition is carefully selected to support the natural flavour of mango, allowing the fruit and hops to complement each other without bitterness taking over. The beer set is designed for 20L fermentation batches.
Features: Expected alcohol content approximately 5.1%. Original gravity (OG): approximately 1.052. Final gravity (FG): approximately 1.013. IBU approximately 12 – slightly to moderately bitter. Colour: 10 EBC – straw yellow. The recipe sheet includes a ready-made label for the Bishop Tap Handle.
- Malt composition (4.8kg crushed): Pilsner malt, wheat malt, melano light, dextrin malt, and flaked oats
- Hops: Azacca, Citra, and El Dorado
- Other ingredients: Mango essence
- Yeast: LalBrew Verdant IPA
Technical data: Mash at 68°C for 60 minutes. Boil for 60 minutes, adding hops according to instructions on the hop bags. Ferment at approximately 20°C. When bottling, add 6g sugar per litre and allow to carbonate at 20-28°C for approximately 14 days before storing in a cool place. CO₂ volume in keg: approximately 2.4 volumes.
⚠️ Important: Follow the recommended dosage precisely. Check the expiry date. We recommend testing with a small quantity first.
⚠️ Oxidation Warning: Oxidation occurs when beer is exposed to oxygen after fermentation has started. Hoppy beers like NEIPA, IPA, and West Coast IPA are particularly sensitive to oxidation, which can lead to off-flavours and reduced shelf life. To minimise oxidation: flush with CO₂ after dry hopping (consider using Hop Bong if using Fermzilla or Kegmenter); when fermenting under pressure, use Closed Transfer to Barrel Hose Kit; barrel conditioning is recommended; bottling is not recommended as it is difficult to avoid oxidation.
