Product operating principle: The reflux distiller works on the basis of evaporation and condensation. After heating, the liquid evaporates in the column, where part of the vapor condenses back and flows down the column, while purified vapor moves on to the condenser. Flow control inserts regulate the output speed and reflux ratio, determining the purity level of the final product.

The device directly controls the spirit flow, which means that as long as there is sufficient coolant in the cooling system, it does not matter how fast it flows through the condenser. You can control the spirit purity with two included flow control inserts with 1.0 mm and 0.6 mm openings. You can also use the ball valve for manual adjustment, but this requires more skill, which is why we recommend using the included brass inserts.

AlcoEngine Gen2 is also suitable for most standard distillation boilers. It can also be used on top of stainless steel kegs, creating a simple and durable keg boiler. Using a 50 mm tri-clover clamp, you can attach the distiller to the top of a 50-liter keg.

Pure Copper Advantages

Unlike stainless steel or only copper-plated distillers, AlcoEngine Gen2 is made entirely of pure copper. When hot vaporous spirit comes into contact with copper, the copper acts as a catalyst, removing sulfur compounds. Simple Assembly and Setup

The distiller is mostly pre-assembled, but you need to connect the garden hose and cooling system yourself. You can use a regular garden hose, but it wastes a lot of tap water. We recommend using a tank of at least 500 liters together with a powerful recirculation pump. Suitable options include high-pressure pumps that you purchase separately. Note that the pump must be powerful enough, as pumping through the condenser requires high pressure. Pressure capability is more important than flow rate. When you receive the distiller, you only need Teflon tape to attach the connections as shown in the product images. Make sure all connections are properly secured and check for leaks before starting distillation.

Recommendations

Distillation is a long process and if you want to automate it, you can use a temperature controller. This saves considerable time and allows precise temperature control throughout the distillation process.

If you want to distill even purer spirits even faster or want to filter spirits with activated carbon, you might consider purchasing a 50 mm tri-clover extension tube separately. This extension tube can be filled with copper or stainless steel balls. By increasing the reflux column volume, you can produce purer spirits and collect it faster.
