French Oak Barrel for Wine and Beer - Quality Oak Barrel Maintenance

High-quality French oak barrel gives wines a distinctive vanilla, spice, and brown sugar aroma. Wines aged in oak barrels develop a rich structure and refined finish, maintaining balance between fruit and toasted aromas.

Usage Recommendations

  • Ideal choice: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah wines
  • Recommended aging period: 12-18 months
  • Toast level: choice of heavy, medium, or untoasted (for vinegar)

Oak Barrel Maintenance

Preparing New Barrel

  • Fill barrel with solution (10g tartaric acid per liter of water)
  • Soak for 4-5 days
  • Empty thoroughly
  • Disinfect with sulfur strip
  • Fill with wine immediately

Used Barrel Maintenance

  • Clean with anhydrous soda solution (1kg soda per 10l hot water)
  • Scrub interior wall with brush
  • Rinse thoroughly
  • Soak in tartaric acid solution for 2-3 days
  • Disinfect with sulfur strip

Empty Barrel Storage

  • Rinse immediately with clean water
  • Let drain for 24 hours
  • Disinfect with sulfur strip (1/4 strip per 100l)
  • Seal properly with wooden or silicone bung
  • Store in humid and cool conditions (70% humidity, temperature 12-17°C)
  • Repeat sulfur strip burning every 3 months
